Included is a proposal to cut another $3.375 million in library aid from the current State budget. I would urge all of you to take three minutes today to visit the NYLA Online Advocacy Center and send a note to your local representatives urging them to REJECT the Governor's call for more library aid cuts. You can send messages right through the online advocacy center. Please feel free to share this message with any library friends and supporters. It is critical that we act today to prevent even deeper cuts in library aid. The Senate Democrats have released their own Deficit Reduction Plan that calls for no cuts to education (including libraries). The Assembly Democrats have indicated they are willing to accept a limited amount of the Governor's proposed cuts , but no agreement has been reached at this point. So there is still time to contact your state legislators to urge them to reject the Governor's proposed cuts to Library Aid. Visit www.nyla.org and click on Contact Your Elected Officials button. In addition, I testified last week at Senate Budget Hearing regarding the proposed cuts and you can see a copy of my testimony under Headlines. Michael J.
